The Developing Game Of Frisbee One New Invention At A Time

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

I live near a stunning park and, every day, I see groups of folks enjoying themselves with what has become a favorite recreation here in my neighborhood — the Frisbee. This seeming craze has given me the concept to try and do a little bit of my own analysis on this excellent game. It actually is fascinating.

As everyone knows, the Frisbee is the name given to the discs that people toss back and forth to each other. They are usually made of plastic and are about 20 to 25 centimeters or 8 to 10 inches in diameter.

These are fashioned to soar through the air quite well when tossed with a nice flick of the hand in a way that gives it nice rotation in the air. Playing with a Frisbee is like playing catch with a rubber ball, although Frisbees are much more fun.

You can find a huge variety of different types of Frisbees for sale on the market, both online and off. There is also what are known as disc golf discs which are made differently than your average Frisbee as their functionality requirements of these is a bit different. They are normally built a bit smaller but have a higher density than regular Frisbees which can dramatically increase the stability and distance of the disc.

Once folks realized that dogs just love chasing those flying Frisbees down, they designed special dog frisbee discs made up of more pliable material that are more resistant to the bite of a dog and which can prevent injuries to the dog that are often associated with more rigid materials. With this came the next large craze which allowed people to show of their dogs abilities in catching a Frisbee and actually compete against other dogs.

The developers of Frisbees it seem never stop expanding the options of this fantastic game as the next step was a disc shaped like the ring around a planet. these are known as aerobies and usually have a much better distance capability than does a regular Frisbee. The latest Frisbee incarnation takes the form a lit flying disc which is growing more and more popular for evening and night time play. Aptly named as a flashlight disc, it give you the ability to continue playing long after the sun disappears behind the hills.

You will find that there are really quite a lot of different games that incorporate the throwing of a Frisbee. It is really amazing the intuitiveness of those who truly have a passion for a game and wish to expand on it. You can see this in Frisbee by the fact of all of the different variations that can be played. For example you have Ultimate Frisbee, double disc court, Fricket, Schtick, Freestyle Frisbee, Durango boot, extreme Frisbee and many more really. Just do a little investigating and you will see what I mean.
